If you're involved in organising a Pride event next year, or you think you might go to one, then there's going to be a new free guide which you'll definitely want to pick up..
For the first time someone's come up with the idea of publishing a Pride Guide, which details all the major gay and lesbian events taking place in the UK, including times, dates and location.

It's the idea of Haydn Price, Marketing Director of Cardiff Pride, who told us why the guide was needed.

"If you live in London, you'll probably know all about the Mardi Gras, but won't necessarily know what's going on in Birmingham or Glasgow. The Pride Guide will help you plan your year."

Of course not all of us go to more than one event, but Hadyn says that everyone he's spoken to thinks it's a great idea. "The idea came out of a discussion during a meeting of Pride organisers from around the country and they were all enthusiastic."

Pride Guide 2002 will be free and 70,000 copies will be distributed at gay venues and events throughout the country around Easter next year. It's going to be in full colour and Haydn says that already gay advertisers are keen to get involved. "Our aim is not to make a profit, just cover costs, and every Pride event will have at least two full pages of editorial devoted to it."
