OutUK: How long is this project going on? Tom: Indefinitely...We're going to be adding other projects to the website in the future, but I think On The Couch will carry on as long as there's more to say about our sexuality. What's happening now is I'm meeting people who are interested in exploring more aspects of this...and I'm interested in it...I want to take up issues that a lot of people will call kink...I want to be the person who's making the most beautiful images of that variety of sexual behaviour. We'll be finished with the idea when interest runs out, but are we ever going to lose interest in this? OutUK: Your subjects... are they mostly models? Tom: Pretty much they're not models. Every once in a while I photograph someone who has experience behind the lens with an erotic background, but 90% of the people are people I meet at the gym or at parties or socially, or people involved with the project say "Oh God there's this guy who'd be incredible" and we'd be introduced. Sometimes there are people who'll send in an e-mail jpeg and we've already had people fly in from Sydney, Paris. They don't get paid, just a portfolio of prints. These people are often professionals..whether its lawyer or waiter they all have day jobs for the most part. They just get on a plane and say I'd love to do this and come to San Francisco and they do it.
